Mount Vernon Catholic Cemetery |
The cemetery lies off Mt Vernon Road in the Liberton area of Edinburgh. |
Notes |
According to the Register of the Commission this cemetery contains 30 Polish war graves. Of the 30 burials, the Commission state that 20 are Army, 9 civilian and 1 Navy. There are a further two service personnel that should be included. The basis for their inclusion is that they appear in the Polish list of 1952. There are a substantial number of Polish post-war graves in this cemetery and some of the inscriptions on the memorials bear testament to previous service in the Polish Armed Forces. |
Columns 1, 3, 4 and 5 of this register entry reflect the information inscribed on the memorial by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Col 2: First name(s), derived from Polish sources, Col 6: Additional information - Date of birth stated in d.m.y. format, Place of birth, (Dist.- District, Prov.-Province), Surname if different to the memorial, Differences in the inscription on the CWGC memorial of the unit last served in, surname etc., Rank derived from Polish sources, Other miscellaneous information. |
